Katherine GoodmanMore students聽abandon engineering school than graduate,聽and a聽growing body of evidence suggests they leave engineering because they聽feel unwelcome.

碍补迟丑别谤颈苍别听骋辞辞诲尘补苍, who received a PhD in Technology, Media & Society in 2015 from the ATLAS Institute, is with聽a University of Colorado Denver research group spearheading an effort to help students "from all walks of life" feel welcome in engineering.聽The project, Broadening Participation in Engineering, received a $350,000聽National Science Foundation聽grant to support聽a three-year faculty learning community聽within CU Denver's聽College of Engineering, Design and Computing.

Goodman's PhD聽research focused on using both quantitative and qualitative methods to characterize transformative experiences in higher education, particularly in STEM disciplines. She is an assistant professor/associate director at CU Denver's InWorks,聽an innovation initiative of the CU聽Denver and the聽Anschutz Medical Campus where creators, thinkers, designers聽and makers collaborate "to solve聽humanity鈥檚 most pressing problems."
