Michael Leccese

In 2005 Michael Leccese became executive director of ULI Colorado, a 1,200-member District Council of the 35,000-member Urban Land Institute. Working with 15 committees, 250 ULI Colorado volunteers and a staff of three, Leccese has forged alliances with nonprofits and public agencies concerned with land use, healthy places, workforce housing, transit-oriented development, economic vitality, and sustainable development. Previously Michael worked as a communications consultant, newspaper reporter, magazine editor, and book author. Mainly covering architecture, urban design and real estate, he wrote or edited numerous books and planning reports and published articles in听The New York Times,听Washington Post,听Urban Land听magazine, and elsewhere.听He was editor of听Historic Preservation News听for the National Trust for Historic Preservation(1980-87) and听LandscapeArchitecture听magazine (1988-1995) for the American Society of Landscape Architects. The New York native has a B.A. in English Literature and Journalism from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.听 He is married to a ULI member, writer Kathleen McCormick.
