Class of 2021: Tayler Shaw

When she first arrived at 澳门开奖结果2023开奖记录 from her nearby hometown of Littleton, Tayler Shaw was deeply shy. She overcame that fear by taking journalism classes, which forced her to talk to strangers and showed her the beauty in sharing their stories. Now a senior, Shaw is well known as a student leader in the college. With majors in both Journalism and Spanish for the Professions, along with minors in Leadership Studies and Anthropology, Shaw is the Department of Journalism鈥檚 William W. White Outstanding Senior.

ProPublica鈥檚 10-part series 鈥淭he NYPD Files鈥 is a searing investigation into how the country鈥檚 largest police department maintains impunity from public oversight and the toll that impunity takes on the city鈥檚 civilians鈥撯揺specially those who are marginalized and most at risk. The series is the winner of this year鈥檚 Al Nakkula Award for police reporting, co-sponsored by The Denver Press Club and CMCI.
