Information Science

Christopher M. Carruth is an artist and educator with an interdisciplinary background spanning information sciences, media theory听and digital arts.听Chris听teaches courses in creative coding as well as the ethical, philosophical听and societal impacts of computation in the modern听world. His research and teaching interests include digital art, digital cultures, speculative design听and innovative pedagogy. 听

For his research and practice, the complexities which emerge from digital cultures and our technologized landscapes are research subjects, while the methods of interaction, exploration, and engagement collapse into a practice that itself formally resolves itself as creative coding, time-based media, installation, poetics, performance听and听new media. While conducted through and with technologies, the work is always/all ways a decidedly听humanistic inquiry.听听

His artwork has been exhibited nationally and internationally at institutions such as Simon Fraser University in Vancouver,听The Branigan Cultural Center in Las Cruces,听and The Dairy Arts Center in Boulder.听 Most recently he showed work at the 27th International Symposium on Electronic Art in Barcelona, Spain.听听
