Paul Thompson (MBA) opened the Red Rocks Beer Garden in downtown Morrison, Colo. He writes that his philosophy on running a beer garden is simple: Good beer, fast service and easy access. He is eager to host CU watch parties for alums in the area.

In June,听Stu Gillespie听(Law)听became the second person to summit Lookout Mountain in Golden, Colo., in a sport called 鈥渟tand up spike鈥 (SUS), which combines cross-country skiing and endurance听long boarding. Stu is听a staff attorney for the environmental advocacy organization EarthJustice, where he specializes in protecting public lands and wildlife. Stu was formerly a professional cyclist in Girona, Spain, from 2004 to 2006.

奥丑别苍听Curt Hammerly听(EnvDes) isn鈥檛 working as technology manager for CU鈥檚 environmental design program, he鈥檚 making art, usually ceramics.听Curt makes mugs, pots, planters and accessories, as well as posters. He sells his work on Etsy. He started making art after he broke his neck and needed a creative outlet. Read more about him in the Summer 2018 Forever Buffs Q&A.

Molly McShea (Fin) and her sister founded Livalit听Travel in 2017. The firm听helps businesses design custom travel experiences 鈥 from hikes in Sri Lanka to cheese tours in Holland and Belgium 鈥 as a way of building community among their customers.

Mark Simmons听(Econ) and brother Chris are embarking on a six-month road trip to the southern tip of Argentina to raise money and awareness听for the Range of Motion Project (ROMP), a Denver-based organization that provides prosthetics for amputees from underserved populations in the U.S. and Latin America. Through their clinics, ROMP delivers a prosthetic for just over $1,000.

Sarah Danser (EPOBio) participated in her second survival challenge on Discovery Channel鈥檚 鈥淣aked and Afraid XL.鈥 She was dropped in South Africa鈥檚 Selati River Basin, near Kruger National Park. The show premiered May 6 and ran for 12 weeks. For her first challenge, she successfully survived 21 days on a desert island after being dropped 12 miles from the shoreline on a life raft.

Michelle Newhart听(PhDSoc) and her husband have published a book titled听The Medicalization of Marijuana: Legitimacy, Stigma, and the Patient Experience. Michelle teaches sociology and works as an instructional designer at Mt. San Antonio College in California.

Sara Staley听(PhDEdu鈥14) and听Bethy Leonardi (PhDEdu鈥14) won the听Kalpana Chawla Award from the 澳门开奖结果2023开奖记录 Alumni Association for their work around topics of gender and sexual diversity in schools. The two research associates and instructors in CU鈥檚 School of Education founded A Queer Endeavor, an initiative providing educators with guidance, vocabulary and tools for developing school cultures that are safe, supportive and accepting of LGBTQ youth.
