For more than 65 years聽Ruth Law O鈥橬eal聽(Mus鈥45) has taught piano, voice and piano pedagogy. She was an adjunct professor for 30 years at CU Denver. She remains an active musician, teaching piano bi-weekly to advanced pianists and music appreciation to about 50 residents of the Vi at Highlands Ranch retirement community. She lives in Littleton, Colo.

At age 91, wind energy pioneer Palmer Carlin (ElEngr; MS鈥52; PhD鈥55) can be found at the U.S. Department of Energy鈥檚 National Wind Technology Center in Golden, Colo., three days a week answering questions from the public about renewable energy. While working at CU as an electrical engineering professor, he built an early wind turbine prototype and discovered his calling. He鈥檚 been with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory ever since. 鈥淲e鈥檙e trying to keep the planet鈥檚 temperature down,鈥 Palmer says. 鈥淲ind is one way to do that.鈥

In August聽Clara Straight聽(MFA) joined the centenarian club. Clara, an聽artist in Kirksville, Mo.,聽selected her favorite聽works from her private聽collection to be exhibited in the Kirksville Arts聽Association this summer. Clara still paints,聽drives and lives on her聽family farm.
