The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) published Clean Energy Innovators: NREL People Working to Change the World, a softbound book written by NREL鈥檚 Ernie Tucker. The book, which can be downloaded online for free, tells the stories of NREL鈥檚 people and the technologies they鈥檝e advanced to help confront the climate crisis. The book features several CU alumni including catalyst researcher Kim Magrini (PhDChem鈥88), hybrid electric vehicles researcher Rob Farrington (PhDMechEngr鈥92), battery system researcher Matt Keyser (MechEngr鈥91) and Olympic biathlete Tim Tetreault (MechEngr, MS鈥04).

Composer, sound practitioner, land artist and photographer Paul Rudy (MMus鈥92) was scheduled to participate in the Composing in the Wilderness program in Alaska in June. Paul and five other composers were selected to spend 10 days exploring Alaska鈥檚 backcountry. The composers will create new wind ensemble works inspired by the trip to premiere with top university ensembles in Nebraska, Michigan and Texas in 2024. Paul 鈥 a Guggenheim, Rome Prize and Fulbright fellow 鈥 has climbed all 54 of Colorado鈥檚 14,000-foot peaks. He is the Curators鈥 Distinguished Professor and Coordinator of Composition at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory.

In January, Deloitte, an audit, consulting, tax and advisory service firm, named Melinda Yee (Acct鈥92) Houston managing partner. Melinda has worked at Deloitte for more than 30 years. Prior, she served as Deloitte鈥檚 central region risk and advisory leader and as its Houston risk and advisory leader. Melinda also serves as a board member for Junior Achievement of Southeast Texas, is a member of the energy transition committee for the Greater Houston Partnership and is audit committee chair, director and trustee at the CU Foundation. She lives in Houston, Texas.
