Dear Infrastructure and Sustainability team,
As we wrap up the spring semester, I'm excited for our upcoming Commencement events. As a vice chancellor, I have the privilege of joining the chancellor鈥檚 procession each year as we lead the new graduates from Norlin Quad down into the stadium. In the two years that I have participated in the procession, I have been filled with great pride as I walk through the chaos of the celebrating graduates and experience first hand their joy, knowing that we in I&S made an impact on each graduate鈥檚 experience and achievements. Volunteers are still needed for many different jobs for both Commencement and for the ; I love seeing my I&S colleagues out there supporting these efforts and experiencing this special day for themselves. Please work with your supervisor to see if you are able to volunteer.
And, as one chapter closes, another begins. I am excited to share the announcement of Dr. Justin Schwartz as our incoming chancellor. In his visit to campus, Dr. Schwartz identified 鈥渟ustainability鈥 as one of his top goals for campus. I look forward to working with him to realize this goal. Join me in extending a warm welcome to Dr. Schwartz as he joins our 澳门开奖结果2023开奖记录 Buff family this July.
Last week, the Sustainability Executive Council announced the publication of the 澳门开奖结果2023开奖记录 Climate Action Plan (CAP). Publishing the final version of the CAP follows an 18-month effort led by the CAP steering committee to engage with groups across campus. They hosted public forums, took the CAP on a campus-wide roadshow and held a month-long open comment period. After the comment period closed, the CAP steering committee analyzed and condensed feedback into 10 main themes, all of which are provided on the CAP website, along with the final draft of the CAP.
I am grateful to our CAP steering committee for their leadership, as well as for the input provided by the campus community and the efforts of I&S staff to support this work. I know that many of you were involved in different ways, and we will continue to be as we move forward in advancing the university鈥檚 sustainability goals.
Finally, I want to congratulate the I&S and campus staff members who earned their Extreme Ownership Foundations certificate of completion this past week. I look forward to working with you and your teams as we put the lessons learned in this course into action over the coming months and years. As Jocko would say, 鈥淟et鈥檚 get after it!鈥
