While Syd loves Mechanical Engineering, it is far from his only interest. Syd currently works in the THING Lab at ATLAS Institute and has been part of Engineers without Borders Rwanda, Biomedical Engineering Society and CU Emergency Medical Services.

Assistant Professor Peter Hamlington received a CAREER award from the National Science Foundation this month for his work exploring the characteristics and behavior of highly turbulent premixed flames in engines using advanced computational simulations. He will receive $500K over five years.

Mechanical engineering students won first, second and third place at the New Venture Challenge championships. Stride Tech, a capstone design team took home $100,000. Button Huggie, a graduate design team took home $45,000. TissueForm took home $12,500.
