How it works

´¡³Ü²µ.-±·´Ç±¹.—What's the problem?

Students find problems and issues for which they want to create a solution. These can be problems in the school, community, state, countryÌýor world. The key here is finding a problem that many people have. Ìý

±·´Ç±¹.-¶Ù±ð³¦.—Minimum Viable Product

Students team up and register. Then, they start working on their solution and create aÌýMinimum Viable Product (MVP). They start with prototyping. If it’s a product they are creating, they can head to a maker space and create a model. If it is a software solution, they can create their wireframe. If it’s a service, they create an outline of the service. Ìý

  • Students must createÌýtheir user profiles in StartuptreeÌý

¶Ù±ð³¦.-´³²¹²Ô.—Product and Market Fit

The time between November and January is crucial. Students should engage in widespread customer discovery. There are two things they need to validate:

  1. Is the problem a real problem for a lot of people?
  2. Is their solution a viable solution, and will people buy it?

The only way to find the answer to these questions is through customer interviews and surveys. The more people they connect with, the more they can validate their solution.

´³²¹²Ô.-¹ó±ð²ú.—Product and Pitch Development

Now is the time to take the MVP and turn it into a real product or service. It is also the time to start building the pitch. The key components to the pitch:

  1. State the problem and show that it is a problem for a lot of people.
  2. State the solution and prove that people who have this problem are willing to buy your solution.
  3. How are you going to make money?
  4. What is the plan for moving forward?
