Want to have a summer you will never forget? The 澳门开奖结果2023开奖记录 Study Abroad offers faculty-led study abroad programs听called Global Seminars. Global Seminars are short-term programs that run over the summer or winter break, typically with a small group (10 to 15) of fellow CU students. Programs usually run between two and six weeks and can often count toward听major or A&S core requirements.

Over 25 Global Seminars will be running in 2017. Study Abroad is pleased to announce several new Global Seminars, listed below, that will be running for the first time in summer 2017.

Composing Irish Odysseys (Dublin, Ireland)
Complete your A&S core upper-division written communication requirement abroad in Ireland next June! You will create your own Irish Odyssey digital story and explore both Dublin and the Irish countryside, including taking part in the exciting Bloomsday Festival.

Open to all majors.听

Exploring China through English Teaching (Chengdu, China)
Spend five weeks in Chengdu, exploring Chinese culture through English teaching! No prior teaching or Chinese experience required. Participate in field-based learning by visiting local classrooms and connecting with English-language learners and teachers. Additional seminars in tai chi, calligraphy听and Chinese language will deepen your understanding of Chinese culture.

LING 3800 is open to all majors and counts towards the linguistic major or minor and the Asia geographic concentration area for international affairs听majors. It will also be a core course for the upcoming undergraduate TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) Certificate,听anticipated starting spring 2017.听

Bali, IndonesiaExploring Culture and听Media in Southeast Asia (Bali and听Siberut, Indonesia)
Attend a three-week, field-based Global Seminar in Indonesia that explores the Mentawai Islands off the west coast of Sumatra, the city of Padang听and Bali. Learn the ethnographic method, documentary filmmaking and critical media practice while living with indigenous people and immersing in the cultural politics of Indonesia.

This program is directed by Christian Hammons. Earn three upper-division credits for ANTH 3760. Open to all majors.听

Discovering Urban China (Beijing, Shanghai and听Hangzhou, China)
Spend your Maymester in China exploring the cultural identity of three of China's most famous and historic cities: Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou. Interact with Chinese peers both in and outside the classroom and gain firsthand knowledge on the ways modernity has affected urban China!

Earn three听upper-division credits for ASIA 3900, approved for the Asian studies major requirement and engineering humanities/social sciences requirements. This is a competitive program, due to a generous scholarship available to all admitted participants. Open to all majors. Application deadline is Jan. 15, 2017.听

Prague, Czech RepublicHuman Geography of the Czech Republic (Prague, Czech Republic)
Earn three听upper-division credits in Prague听this May! Explore the history and geography of the historic city of Prague, while deepening your understanding of how political and economic changes and transitions have a diverse impact on social and cultural norms. Participants will听also complete an independent research project and travel around Prague for field observations.

This program fulfills an A&S core requirement for contemporary societies, engineering humanities/social sciences听or a general elective. Open to all majors.听

Sustainable Potable Water Supply Systems (Santiago, Chile)
Earn three credits this Maymester by听studying the application of rural water supply systems in Chile. You will travel to local communities and learn about rural water systems directly from the community members who run them. In addition to engaging and collaborating with local engineering students at the University Diego Portales, you will also live with a host family and enjoy many cross-cultural excursions.

Prerequisite for the program is CVEN 3414.听
