SEEC buildingThe nextEngagedScientist Series lecture andworkshopis scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 19, and will focus on"Uses and Practices of Community Dialogue in Geosciences and Environmental Sciences."

As communities increasingly grapple with problems of resiliency and environmental health and safety, scientists who are prepared to help are needed.The Engaged Scientist series of free public talks and associated workshops for graduate students and post-doctoral researchers aims to equip scientists with community engagement skills.

Boulder Talks DirectorsPhaedra Pezzulloand Leah Sprain of theCUCollege for Media, Communication and Information (CMCI) will give a public lecture on fostering community dialogue from4 to 5 p.m. if you plan to attend. Although registration for the lecture portion of the event isrequested, it is not required.

Pezzullo,Sprainand SusanSullivan, the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) education outreach director,will thenco-lead theassociatedworkshop for graduatestudents andpost-docs from5:30 to8:30 p.m., and dinner will be provided for participants.

Both eventswill behosted inthe Sustainability Innovation Lab at Colorado (SILC), room N290, at the Sustainability, Energyand Environment Complex (SEEC)onEast Campus.
