E. Scott Adler, professor and chair of political science, and Bud Coleman, professor and inaugural Roe Green Endowed Chair of Theatre and former chair (2003鈥17) of Theatre and Dance, are the two finalists for the post of dean of the Graduate School and vice provost for Graduate Affairs.

The search committee for the position, chaired by Senior Vice Provost for Academic Planning and Assessment Katherine Eggert, has forwarded the names of the two to Senior Vice Provost for Academic Resource Management Ann Schmiesing, to whom the graduate dean position reports. Schmiesing has accepted the committee鈥檚 recommendations.

鈥淭he committee worked diligently to arrive at candidates who possess the scholarly track record, quality of experience with graduate students and graduate faculty, and vision for graduate education that combined would take our graduate students to new levels of success,鈥 said Eggert.

Schmiesing lauded the committee鈥檚 efforts.听

Coleman鈥檚 campus open forum will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 15, and Adler鈥檚 forum will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, Monday, April 22, both in the Center for British and Irish Studies on the fifth floor of Norlin Library. The two candidates will also each meet in closed sessions with graduate student leadership, Graduate School staff and advancement personnel, personnel from the centers and programs that report to the Graduate School, deans, the provost鈥檚 cabinet, Deputy Chief Financial Officer Carla Ho-a听and the search committee.

Following each campus forum, members of the community will have a week of formal input for each candidate via a web interface that will be announced at the forums and in听澳门开奖结果2023开奖记录 Today.

Schmiesing also welcomes other feedback on the finalists at gsdeansearch@colorado.edu from Monday, April 15, through Sunday, April 28. Information on the two candidates is posted on the graduate dean search committee webpage. Schmiesing will review all feedback beginning the week of April 29 and is expected to name the new graduate dean the week of May 6鈥10, with a start date of听July 1, 2019.

The dean is the chief administrative officer of the Graduate School and a member of the provost鈥檚 leadership team who works closely with graduate students and with the United Government of Graduate Students (UGGS) on improving all areas of the graduate student experience. The post also collaborates with faculty, staff听and campus leadership in the strategic development, growth and quality of graduate and professional programs.
