Since 2002, CISW has hosted an Interdisciplinary Research Event Series during each academic year that provides researchers from inside and outside of CU the opportunity to present works-in-progress to an interdisciplinary audience of interested participants, on a topic related to research on work in living systems, together with a sponsored reception. 聽Topics have included:

- How do Sleep and Work Interact?
- Nurturing Innovation聽at IBM Academy of Technology
- Assistive Technologies and Basic Life Science Research
- Remote-Sensing Research:聽Integrating Across Disciplines and Levels
- Work and Energy Constraints in Creating聽Representations
- How do Organisms Respond to Competing Energetic Requirements for Information?
In addition, several Interdisciplinary Research Events together formed the foundation for a cross--disciplinary UCB conference, "Expanding Perspectives on Work and Performance."
An Interdisciplinary Research Conference, "Energy and Resource Allocation in Cellular, Neural, and Manufactured Systems," is in development.
