CU-Boulder Alumni Association board member听Allen Buckner听(Mktg鈥91) finished his term in May. His corporate marketing experience was invaluable in both the marketing and communications and events and outreach committees. He helped offer guidance on how to better reach alumni. In December听Kathleen Finnegan Chambard听(Ger, CentEastEur鈥91) earned her master鈥檚 degree in strategic communications at Columbia University. She walked in the Columbia University commencement ceremony in May. In June Kathleen鈥檚 two children graduated from middle and elementary school and they held a triple-decker graduation party. Kathleen and her family live in Brooklyn.

Since graduating from CU听Albert DeSilver听(Art鈥91) has survived a challenging run with alcohol, a dramatic cult experience in California and has become an internationally published poet, author, teacher, speaker and writing coach. He published a book describing his harrowing and inspirational adventures titled听Breamish Boy: A Memoir听(The Owl Press) about overcoming his zany, abusive childhood, struggles with alcohol and ultimately his redemption through art and poetry. Albert lives in Woodacre, Calif.

Denver鈥檚 CBS4 news director听Tim Wieland听(Jour鈥91) spoke at the journalism and mass communication Homecoming program 鈥淗ot News: Smart Tools,鈥 sharing how his team uses digital technology for its storytelling. Tim oversaw his staff鈥檚 coverage of last summer鈥檚 news stories, including the state鈥檚 devastating wildfires and Aurora theater shooting. In 1999 Tim covered the Columbine High School shootings for CNN.

Broadcast journalist听Christine Mahoney Rubin听(Jour鈥91) joined CU-Boulder鈥檚 journalism and mass communication program as the internship and career coordinator. She taught broadcast news courses for nine years at CU, worked as a TV news anchor and reporter in Denver, Sacramento, Calif., Las Vegas and Michigan and serves as the producer and media coach for Honk! Media.

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics selected听Ashok Srivastava听(ElEngr鈥91, PhD鈥96) as editor-in-chief of its听Journal of Aerospace Computing, Information and Communication. In his role Ashok is encouraging the submission of original, high-quality, theoretical and application-oriented papers that describe methods, tools and techniques that advance the state of the art in several disciplines. Last winter听Angela Reed听(Psych, Thtr鈥91) performed in Denver in the world premiere of the drama听TheWhale听at the Ricketson Theatre. She also traveled for two years in the Broadway tour of听Spring Awakening, and she and her husband both appeared in the national Broadway tour of听War Horse听in April. They live in New York City.

The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors named听David Tegarden听(Bus鈥91) the Darrel D. and Betty R. Martin Junior Faculty Fellow of Accounting and Information Systems. He received the three-year fellowship for his teaching and scholarly excellence. David is associate professor of accounting and information systems in Virginia Tech鈥檚 business college and has worked there since 1994. He lives in Blacksburg, Va.

In January, Deloitte, an audit, consulting, tax and advisory service firm, named Melinda Yee (Acct鈥92) Houston managing partner. Melinda has worked at Deloitte for more than 30 years. Prior, she served as Deloitte鈥檚 central region risk and advisory leader and as its Houston risk and advisory leader. Melinda also serves as a board member for Junior Achievement of Southeast Texas, is a member of the energy transition committee for the Greater Houston Partnership and is audit committee chair, director and trustee at the CU Foundation. She lives in Houston, Texas.

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) published Clean Energy Innovators: NREL People Working to Change the World, a softbound book written by NREL鈥檚 Ernie Tucker. The book, which can be downloaded online for free, tells the stories of NREL鈥檚 people and the technologies they鈥檝e advanced to help confront the climate crisis. The book features several CU alumni including catalyst researcher Kim Magrini (PhDChem鈥88), hybrid electric vehicles researcher Rob Farrington (PhDMechEngr鈥92), battery system researcher Matt Keyser (MechEngr鈥91) and Olympic biathlete Tim Tetreault (MechEngr, MS鈥04).

Composer, sound practitioner, land artist and photographer Paul Rudy (MMus鈥92) was scheduled to participate in the Composing in the Wilderness program in Alaska in June. Paul and five other composers were selected to spend 10 days exploring Alaska鈥檚 backcountry. The composers will create new wind ensemble works inspired by the trip to premiere with top university ensembles in Nebraska, Michigan and Texas in 2024. Paul 鈥 a Guggenheim, Rome Prize and Fulbright fellow 鈥 has climbed all 54 of Colorado鈥檚 14,000-foot peaks. He is the Curators鈥 Distinguished Professor and Coordinator of Composition at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory.

Karl Gopsill (Geog) of Castle Pines, Colorado, has been promoted to director of IT shared services at Dish Network in Englewood, Colorado.
