Last winter聽Chris Anthony聽(Kines鈥90) paid tribute to the iconic 10th Mountain Division infantry unit with a Warren Miller Entertainment segment he shot in Colorado. The 10th Mountain Division was made famous by their unique mountain-based contribution during World War II. Chris lives in Edwards, Colo., and was featured in the March 2011聽Coloradan.

CU environmental studies professor聽Roger Pielke Jr.听(Math鈥90, MPolSci鈥92, PhD鈥94) received an honorary doctorate of philosophy from Link枚ping University, one of Sweden鈥檚 top universities. Link枚ping officials wrote that Roger鈥檚 鈥渙utstanding achievement in interdisciplinary climate research is a bold and refreshing voice in the climate debate.鈥 He lives in Boulder and is a fellow of the Cooperative Institute for Research in the Environmental Sciences.

Named after聽David Steinmann聽(Phys鈥90), a new species of pseudoscorpion was discovered in a cavern in Glenwood Springs, Colo. It has venom-tipped pincers and is camouflaged to blend in with cave walls. David is a zoology department associate at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. An avid caver he has discovered more than a hundred new invertebrate species in Colorado caves.

Dumpster diving is an adventure for聽Aaron LaPedis聽(Soc鈥90) every spring because of the huge amount of valuable items thrown away by university students and skiers alike. As a guest columnist for theDenver Post, he wrote an article about the treasures that can be found in trash bins near ski resorts and college campuses. Aaron is an art and collectibles dealer and author of聽The Garage Sale Millionaire聽(A Beautiful Media). He lives in Denver.

He received the 2010 Excellence in Design award from the American Institute of Chemical Engineers for his contribution to Quality by Design for Drug Substance to advance smarter approaches to drug development. He was one of the award鈥檚 first recipients.

D. Eric Maikranz (Russ鈥91) and Marcos Perez (Psych鈥97) recently finished the narrative non-fiction book The Next Good Thing: A True Story of Positivity and Transformation in 10 Lessons. It tells the true story of a man whose life is transformed when he takes an unlikely caretaking job for a disabled 87-year-old man who is more than he seems.

Gibson Smith (Econ鈥91) has worked in several financial positions, including as founder and CIO of Denver鈥檚 Smith Capital Investors, LLC. Gibson is passionate about asset management, security analysis, economics and finance. Gibson and Laura Smith鈥檚 (Intl鈥93) son, Charlie Smith (RealEs鈥24), will graduate from CU in May. He is a fifth-generation Forever Buff through Laura鈥檚 family, a fourth-generation Forever Buff through Gibson鈥檚 family and has many Forever Buff aunts and uncles.

Sage Martin聽(Comm鈥91) serves as聽executive director of the聽,聽the longest-continuously-running documentary聽film festival in the U.S.听The festival began in聽1979. Sage manages聽a nine-person staff,聽including聽Laura Hoover聽(Anth鈥19) and聽厂丑补别听尝补笔濒补肠别 (Advert鈥18). The聽festival highlights film and聽art centered around adventure as well as cultural,聽social and environmental聽justice. 鈥淭he common聽thread is the celebration聽of indomitable spirit,鈥澛燬age wrote. Guests have聽included Oprah, mountaineer Jimmy Chin and聽Wild聽author Cheryl Strayed.听The next festival is May聽23鈥27, 2024, in Telluride,聽Colorado.听

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) published Clean Energy Innovators: NREL People Working to Change the World, a softbound book written by NREL鈥檚 Ernie Tucker. The book, which can be downloaded online for free, tells the stories of NREL鈥檚 people and the technologies they鈥檝e advanced to help confront the climate crisis. The book features several CU alumni including catalyst researcher Kim Magrini (PhDChem鈥88), hybrid electric vehicles researcher Rob Farrington (PhDMechEngr鈥92), battery system researcher Matt Keyser (MechEngr鈥91) and Olympic biathlete Tim Tetreault (MechEngr, MS鈥04).

In fall 2021, Christine Mahoney (Jour鈥91) took the role as public information officer and spokesperson for the 澳门开奖结果2023开奖记录 Police Department (CUPD). In her position, she manages external communications, including emergency messaging, public relations, social media and media relations. A former journalist, Christine has also taught journalism and managed a media internship program in 澳门开奖结果2023开奖记录鈥檚 former School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Hong Kong resident聽Dana Magenau (Chin鈥91)聽is the vice president of聽commercial and corporate partnerships at the聽Kai Tak Sports Park, a聽more than 70-acre mega聽complex that includes聽a 50,000-seat stadium聽with a retractable roof, a聽10,000-seat indoor sports聽arena, a public sports聽ground and 600,000聽square feet of retail.听Dana鈥檚 colleague and聽fellow Buff, Meg McWilliam (ArtHist, EnvDes鈥05,聽MArch鈥07), associate聽principal architect at Populous based out of Los聽Angeles, is the lead architect of the main stadium.听Kai Tak Sports Park will聽be Hong Kong鈥檚 largest聽sports and entertainment聽structure. The raising of聽the over 6,000-ton roof聽trusses was recently celebrated with a traditional聽Bai Sun Ceremony.

This spring, the 澳门开奖结果2023开奖记录 College of Music recognized Leenya Rideout (Mus) as a distinguished alumnus of the college. Leenya has lived in New York City for the past 25 years. In 1997, she played violin, sang, danced and acted in the Broadway show Cabaret. She also wrote her own musical, Wild Abandon, about herself and her mom, which was shown off-Broadway in New York in 2018. 鈥淚 feel like art can do so much right now for the world,鈥 she told the music college. 鈥淭he world needs a lot of healing and a lot of bringing people together.鈥

After receiving his MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute, Albert Flynn DeSilver (Art) became an internationally published poet, memoirist, novelist and nonfiction writer.
