To engage, educate,听and empower individuals and communities鈥攍ocally, nationally, and听internationally鈥攖hrough the academic and artistic exploration of Jewish听cultures, thought, languages, and听religious practices.


Vision

To be an inclusive community of learning in which students, scholars, artists, staff, and members of the public鈥攆rom Colorado and across the globe鈥攃ome together for collaborative, academic examination of Jewish cultures and histories, producing new knowledge and promoting dialogue, tolerance, and a commitment to social justice.

The Program in Jewish Studies, an interdisciplinary academic unit of the College of Arts and Sciences, offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in Jewish Studies as well as minors in Jewish Studies and Hebrew Studies.听The primary goal of the program is to explore Jewish culture, history, society, and thought while equipping students with a fluency in a number of the disciplines offered through the College of Arts & Sciences.听The program also reflects the core goals of Colorado鈥檚 flagship university: to provide an outstanding liberal arts education, to foster critical thought, and to instill a keen appreciation of humanity鈥檚 interrelatedness and diversity.

With internationally acclaimed faculty engaged in cutting-edge research and opportunities to study with leading artists, scholars, and professionals working in the field of Jewish studies, the program offers an innovative and contemporary curriculum designed to provide a strong foundation in cultural education and to connect Jewish thought and text to action and people鈥檚 lives.
