Volunteers from a variety of campus groups will be available to help new students move their belongings into residence halls at the 澳门开奖结果2023开奖记录 Aug. 20 and Aug. 22 as New Student Move-In begins.
New students will move in Aug. 20 through Aug. 22 with the majority of freshmen moving in on Aug. 22, according to Kambiz Khalili, executive director for Housing and Dining Services.
The volunteer movers will be stationed near all campus residence halls to help students and their families move belongings into the halls as quickly as possible.
Volunteers from the Residence Hall Association, returning residence hall students and students from several student groups will wear pink CU Welcoming Assembly 2013-14 T-shirts with the CUWA acronym identifying them as move-in staff.
The volunteers will be available to assist new students primarily on specified New Student Move-In dates including Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Thursday, Aug. 22, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Volunteer groups at Move-In also will include the CU football team, the Men鈥檚 Lacrosse Club, CU Panhellenic Council and Interfraternity Council and the Young Life organization.
鈥淲e鈥檙e looking forward to providing a warm welcome and a helping hand for our new and returning students,鈥� said John Fox, associate director of Residence Life. 鈥淭his is always such an exciting moment for students as they get situated and kick off the school year.鈥�
Information tables with handouts for new students also will be set up in key locations. On both Tuesday and Thursday, information tents will be set up at Williams Village, the Kittredge complex and the Regent Administrative Center near Farrand Field.
Some of the students moving in will be the first-ever residents in the new Kittredge Central building, which will house CU-Boulder鈥檚 newest Residential Academic Program, or RAP -- Global Engineering. Also, some students will be moving into the newly renovated and reopened Kittredge West building. Both buildings contain a number of sustainability features to improve water efficiency, save energy and reduce carbon emissions such as low-flow plumbing and anti-phantom-load power outlets in the student rooms that cut off electricity flow when appliances that are plugged in are not in use.
Orientation and social activities for new residence hall students will be held the evenings of Aug. 21 and Aug. 22. On Aug. 23 all first-year residence hall students will be required to attend a hall meeting with other students from their floors to get acquainted and to learn about policies, services, the roommate agreement and other activities planned for the week. After the hall meeting, all first-year students will attend the Ice and Dice activity at the Student Recreation Center on campus.
