Each semester, the campus performs a test of the °ÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û2023¿ª½±¼Ç¼ Alerts system to raise awareness of the platform and test the deployment of new notification methods. Elements of the rescheduled test at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 26, will include the final integration of the Alertus desktop notifications platform and testing of upgrades to the alerts.colorado.edu website.

Text messages are accepted by Boulder County’s four 9-1-1 dispatch centers, including the °ÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û2023¿ª½±¼Ç¼ Police Department. While this is a great feature, there are only specific times and reasons to use this type of emergency communication.

With October being Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Office of Victim Assistance is sharing some warning signs of intimate partner abuse.

This week we want to bring awareness to the issue of sexual assault on college campuses around the country. Sexual assault is a horrendous crime that needs to end. Domestic violence, also known as intimate partner abuse, is best understood as a pattern of abusive behaviors–including physical, sexual, and psychological abuse as well as economic coercion–used by one intimate partner against another to gain, maintain, or regain power and control in the relationship. The HAWK (High-intensity Activated crossWalK) light on Regent Drive near Colorado Avenue has been provided by the city of Boulder to allow pedestrians, bikers and boarders a safe way to cross a busy street. After receiving several reports of a non-CU text alert received by some affiliates yesterday, campus officials began an investigation with the vendor that provides our text alert system, RAVE Mobile Safety. Searches in social media further revealed that the same message was being received by affiliates at many universities across the United States.

During the two incidents yesterday, we heard from some of you about some of the terms we used in our emergency communication. We hope this will help everyone understand what the terms mean and why we use them.

The campus will conduct a test of the °ÄÃÅ¿ª½±½á¹û2023¿ª½±¼Ç¼ Alerts system on Wednesday, Oct. 5, at noon to raise awareness of how the campus community will be notified in case of a campus emergency. The test will include text messages, emails, social media and website announcements. Annual testing of emergency notification systems is required by the Clery Act, a federal law.

In an effort to provide a safer environment for fans and expedite entry into Folsom Field, the University of Colorado will be implementing a clear bag policy at CU football games beginning this season.
