CU-Boulder Faculty Assembly Presents 1996-97 Excellence Awards

Twelve CU-Boulder faculty members received the highest honor given by their peers May 7 when they were named winners of the 1996-97 Awards for Excellence from the CU-Boulder Faculty Assembly. Up to four recipients are nominated and selected by their colleagues each spring in each of three categories: teaching, service, and research, scholarly or creative work. Each award includes $3,000.

3,800 CU-Boulder Students To Get Degrees May 16

About 3,800 students will receive diplomas May 16 from the University of Colorado at Boulder in outdoor commencement exercises in Folsom Stadium. Of the diplomas to be presented, about 2,700 will be for bachelor聮s degrees, 700 for master聮s degrees and 400 for doctorates. Forty-eight students will earn two diplomas and about 356 will receive their degrees with honors.

CU-Boulder To Host Conference On Contemporary Legends

The University of Colorado at Boulder English department will host an international scholarly conference on contemporary or 聯urban聰 legends from May 21 to May 24 at the Hotel Boulderado.

CU-Boulder Law Students Name Wilkinson For Teaching Excellence

Professor Charles Wilkinson of the University of Colorado at Boulder School of Law has been named the 1996-97 Teaching Excellence Award winner by a vote of law school students. The award, which has been given to top teaching faculty for the past eight years, carries a $1,000 stipend from the Student Bar Association and the Dean聮s Fund for Excellence.

Hammond Receives Award For Book On Judgment

A book authored by Kenneth Hammond, a retired University of Colorado at Boulder psychology professor and a leading expert on human decision-making, has received an award from the American Educational Research Association as the publication making the most significant contribution during the past year.

CU-Boulder Exhibit On Greece Set This Summer In Lamar

Lamar will host an exhibit on Greek culture of more than 9,000 years ago as part of the CU This Summer cultural outreach program of the University of Colorado at Boulder. The exhibit, 聯Chaeroneia: 6000 Years B.C.,聰 will be May 24 through Sept. 1 at the Lamar Public Library, 104 Parmenter St. Exhibit hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free. The local sponsors are KLMR/KSEC Radio, the Lamar Daily News and the Friends of the Library.

CU-Boulder Art, Photo Exhibit Set This Summer In Estes Park

Estes Park will host an exhibit of art and photography as part of the CU This Summer cultural outreach program of the University of Colorado at Boulder. The exhibit, 聯Exploring Our Place in Nature,聰 will be shown from June 5 through Sept. 7 in the Estes Park Conference Center, sponsor of the exhibit, at 201 South St. Vrain. Hours are Thursday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

Closed Circuit Leadership Workshop Offered By CU Business College May 14

CU-Boulder Art Exhibit Set This Summer in Burlington

Burlington will host an exhibit of graphic art prints depicting work scenes as part of the CU This Summer cultural outreach program from the University of Colorado at Boulder. The exhibit, 聯By the Sweat of Your Brow: Images of Work,聰 will be shown from May 24 through Sept. 1 in Old Town Museum, the local sponsor, at 420 S. 14th St. Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, $4 for youngsters ages 12 to 18 and $2 for ages three through 11.

CU-Boulder Photo Exhibit Set This Summer In Brighton

Brighton will host an exhibit of insect photographs as part of the CU This Summer cultural outreach program of the University of Colorado at Boulder. The exhibit, 聯Small Wonders: Insect Photos by Fran Hall,聰 will be shown from May 24 through Sept. 1 in the Adams County Museum, the local sponsor, at 9601 Henderson Road. Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Donations are requested. Photographer Fran Hall, now in his eighties, will give a free public talk about his work on Sunday, June 8, at 4 p.m. in the Adams County Museum.
