CU-Boulder Photo Exhibit Set This Summer In Cortez

Brighton will host an exhibit of insect photographs as part of the CU This Summer cultural outreach program of the University of Colorado at Boulder. The exhibit, 聯Small Wonders: Insect Photos by Fran Hall,聰 will be shown from May 24 through Sept. 1 in the Adams County Museum, the local sponsor, at 9601 Henderson Road. Museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Donations are requested. Photographer Fran Hall, now in his eighties, will give a free public talk about his work on Sunday, June 8, at 4 p.m. in the Adams County Museum.

Seniors To Get Scholarships, Meely Gets Award From CU-Boulder Alumni Chapter

The Boulder Chapter of the University of Colorado Alumni Association will award three $2,500 scholarships to Boulder area high school seniors and the annual Community Service Award to Cliff Meely, former CU basketball star, at a reception May 7. The Dollars for Scholars reception will be from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in Koenig Alumni Center and is open to all Boulder area CU alumni. Admission is free.

CU-Boulder Singers To Perform Children's Opera In Pueblo May 19-24

Pueblo will host a week-long series of performances of two children聮s operas as part of the CU This Summer cultural outreach program of the University of Colorado at Boulder. The CU-Boulder Lyric Theatre for Children will perform 聯Little Red Riding Hood聰 by Seymour Barab and 聯Hansel and Gretel聰 by Engelbert Humperdinck in Pueblo area schools from May 19 through May 24.

The exhibit, 聯Beyond the Loom: Keys to Understanding Early Southwestern Textiles,聰 will be shown from May 24 through Sept. 1 at the Museum of Western Colorado, the CU This Summer local sponsor. The large color photographs in the exhibit are accompanied by text and graphics showing the early history and methods of weaving by native people of the Southwest.

CU-Boulder To Host History Day May 3

The University of Colorado at Boulder will host National History Day in Colorado May 3 for students in sixth through 12th grades in schools across the state. Judging for the seven categories of competition will begin at 9 a.m. in Hellems Arts and Sciences Building, the Education Building and the University Memorial Center.

CU-Boulder Alumni Association Names 1997 Award Winners

Ceremonies honoring seven winners of the University of Colorado at Boulder Alumni Association聮s 67th annual awards will be held May 15 in Old Main Chapel on campus. The George Norlin Award to distinguished alumni for lifetime achievement and devotion to the betterment of society will be presented to Les Fowler of Boulder and Alfred Harrell of Denver. Fowler, a 1948 business graduate, was honored for his contribution to higher education while serving more than two decades in the Colorado Legislature and for volunteering his skills as a CU golf coach.

CU-Boulder Campus Closes Noon April 24 Due To Snow

Campus Closure The University of Colorado at Boulder will close at noon today, Thursday, April 24, except for essential services and the engineering college lab dedication, which will proceed as scheduled, according to Interim Chancellor Richard Byyny. Because essential services will be maintained, employees should check with their supervisors or department heads for instructions. Also, the dedication of the Intergrated Teaching and Learning Laboratory, scheduled for this afternoon, will proceed as planned, university officials said.
