CU This Summer Program To Offer Cultural Events Throughout State

Ten Colorado communities will host the University of Colorado at Boulder聮s outreach program, CU This Summer, providing art and museum exhibits, dance and music performances throughout the state. According to estimates, more than 300,000 individuals have attended CU This Summer events in the nine years the popular community outreach program has traveled around the state.

CU-Boulder Undergraduates To Present Research Findings

CU-Boulder undergraduates will present research findings in the fields of psychology, biology and kinesiology on April 30 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Glenn Miller Ballroom of the University Memorial Center. About 20 students will offer poster displays explaining their research results and will be available to answer questions. Topics include the effects of anxiety on memory and the effects of underwater running on running performance. CU-Boulder students and the general public are invited to attend.

Local Businessman Bob Charles Given Dean's Award For Excellence

The College of Business and Administration at the University of Colorado at Boulder has honored Robert F. (Bob) Charles with the 1997 Dean聮s Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence. Charles, who moved to Boulder in 1965 with his wife, Judy, managed Boulder聮s original McDonald聮s on 28th Street. By 1969 he owned that store and had opened another on Baseline. In the early 1990s, Charles operated 11 franchises and was heralded as the Burger Baron of Boulder County. He presently owns three stores 聳 two in Arvada and one in Westminster.

CU-Boulder Hawaiian Students Plan Seventh Annual Lu'au

The University of Colorado at Boulder聮s Hawaiian student organization, Hui O Mau Hoaaloha, will hold it聮s seventh annual lu聮au on April 26 in the Glenn Miller Ballroom on the CU-Boulder campus. Doors open at 5 p.m. Dinner will be served from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and a Polynesian revue consisting of Tahitian, Maori, Samoan and Hawaiian dancing will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will also be special guest performances by Hawaiian singer Palani Vaughan and Miss Aloha Hula, Hewa Vaughan.

CU Professor Offers Tips On How To Be A Better Grocery Shopper

Donald Lichtenstein has studied marketing techniques and consumer behavior in all types of stores for 15 years. From the front of a store to the back, he has suggestions on techniques shoppers can use to get more value for their money. "I love a deal," says Lichtenstein. "When that blue light goes off something in my blood just starts percolating."

UMC Director Candidates To Visit Campus This Week

Four CU-Boulder Professors Receive New Big 12 Faculty Fellowships

Four faculty members at the University of Colorado at Boulder will be the first to receive the newly established Big 12 Faculty Fellowships to work in their areas of expertise at another Big 12 school of their choice. The recipients were announced by Wallace Loh, vice chancellor for academic affairs, who first announced the fellowships last December. The fellowships were established, Loh said, 聯by the chief academic officers of the Big 12 who believe our member schools should be more than an athletic conference -- we should also be connected by academic endeavors.聰

Satellite Images Show Chunk Of Broken Antarctic Ice Shelf

Recent satellite images collected by the University of Colorado at Boulder-based National Snow and Ice Data Center indicate a section of a large ice shelf on the Antarctic Peninsula has broken away.
